Data Warehouse ArchitectApply for this position

The role of the Architect is to lead the technical design and implementation of our data warehouse and related data management implementations. The role is one of technical leadership, with final responsibility for solution delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Practice Lead to update methodologies and approaches to reflect changes in the data management technology landscape.
  • Support pre-sales cycles with assistance in proposal development by being a significant contributor to the technical components of the proposal – solution design, approach, time and effort estimation.
  • Support a Daman Principal in program and project planning. Determine the information and product architecture and deliver detailed system design. Provide technical leadership for the development of data models, data movement architectures and data delivery mechanisms.
  • Ensure that the project deliverables operate as per specifications and meets customer SLAs.
  • Develop complex components and be able to guide overall performance tuning of delivered solutions.
  • Perform or support project management including development and management of project plans, status reports and overall client interaction, as necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ten years experience in the development of data management, data warehouse, decision support, or executive information systems.
  • Must have experience in the development of process and data models.
  • Must have good understanding of Dimensional Modeling and ER-Modeling. Prior experience with industry models is preferred (IBM, Oracle, SAP or Teradata).
  • Must be extremely proficient in at least two of the following database technologies: Teradata, Netezza, DB2, Oracle, Exadata or SQL Server.
  • Must have advanced proficiency in at least one of the following ETL technologies: IBM InfoSphere DataStage, Informatica or Ab Initio.
  • Functional expertise in one or more of the following industries: Financial Services (Banking and/or Insurance), Retail, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Public Sector or others.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to facilitate interaction between client management and the Daman team.
  • Ability to travel extensively to client sites.

Additional Preferred Requirements

  • Knowledge of cubes – ROLAP, MOLAP and HOLAP.
  • Experience with pre-built analytical solutions (RapidMarts, SAP BW or BI technology supplemental solutions).
  • Have a functional understanding of extracting data from at least one ERP system (PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle etc) or CRM system (Siebel, Salesforce.com etc).
  • Expertise in one of the following BI technologies: Cognos, Microstrategy, OBIEE, or BusinessObjects.

Data Warehouse DesignerApply for this position

The Data Warehouse Designer structures data for optimal access, performance and integration. This role requires taking responsibility for building new data sets and data structures as required to support business needs, as well as responsibility for managing the distribution, replication, and archival of data throughout the enterprise. The designer must also manage the balance of current and future needs in both design and content. This role requires a blend of skills normally found in the specialized roles of Business Analyst, Data Modeler, and Database Analyst.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define standards and frameworks for data architecture design.
  • Define Data Governance programs and frameworks.
  • Verify decision support program specifications with users for reliability, accuracy and functionality. Ensure users’ effective, accurate and easy access to data; translate user information requirements into data structures.
  • Be responsible for event modeling, conceptual, logical and physical database design, database optimization, load strategy design and implementation, security, and change management. Take overall responsibility for design and deployment of all database structures (DW, DM, OLAP, ODS, etc.).
  • Perform data profiling and analysis to assess data quality patterns, recommend data cleansing rules, conforming data standard rules and matching algorithms.
  • Provide database query performance tuning expertise.
  • Provide direct project management for limited Daman assignments. Focus is on providing technical leadership and direction.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Seven years experience in the development of data warehouse, decision support, or executive information systems. Related experience in relevant application software development may be considered.
  • Must have experience in the development of process and data models.
  • Functional expertise in one or more of the following industries: Financial Services (Banking and/ or Insurance), Retail, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Public Sector or others.

Integration SpecialistApply for this position

Ab Initio, InfoSphere DataStage, Informatica

This person is responsible for developing data flow architectures within various integration patterns – loading analytical structures (DW, DM, ODS etc.), integrating and migrating applications (EAI), developing inter and intra business communication gateways. Projects involve leveraging industry-strength data movement technologies such as InfoSphere DataStage, Informatica PowerCenter or Ab Initio CoOperating System.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Configure and customize the chosen ETL tool for client installations.
  • Optimally leverage the ETL tool components for developing efficient solutions for data management, conversion, migration and integration. Develop overall design and determine division of labor across various architectural components (for example ETL tool vs. database).
  • Deploy and customize Daman Standard Architecture components.
  • Mentor client personnel. Train clients on the Daman Integration Methodology and related supplemental solutions.
  • Provide feedback and enhance Daman intellectual property related to ETL deployments.
  • Assist in development of task plans including schedule and effort estimation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Advanced experience (at least 3 full lifecycle projects) with one of the above specified ETL tool suites.
  • Full understanding of and experience with data extraction from legacy systems, working with database appliances, integrating ERP systems and cloud interaction.
  • Must have strong core technical competency in databases and DBMS concepts, including a good conceptual understanding of data structures and basic algorithms (e.g. stacks, sorting, queues). Must have experience writing and deploying stored procedures, tuning SQL scripts/queries and using database monitoring facilities.
  • Specific experience in at least two of the following DBMS environments: DB2, Oracle, Exadata, Teradata or Netezza.
  • Energetic, self-motivated and versatile individual who is goal and deadline oriented and exhibits strong technical communication skills.
  • Ability to travel 80% of the time or more.

Additional Preferred Requirements

  • Understanding of data warehouse modeling concepts.
  • A strong understanding of tool architecture and tool certification is desired. However, Daman will offer certification and training to candidates who meet minimum requirements.
  • Experience with DB2/MVS, IMS/MVS, IDMS/MVS or any other legacy database.
  • Experience with SAP or PeopleSoft is a plus.
  • Experience in architecting and implementing high availability and disaster recovery for mission-critical DW / BI.

Decision Support Specialist AnalystApply for this position

A Decision Support Specialist [or “Systems” ?] (DSS) Analyst is an expert in retrieving and subsequently presenting corporate information for the purpose of decision support and analysis. The analyst produces the results through a mastery of techniques and business intelligence tools that range from basic queries, dashboards and portals to multidimensional analysis. The value of the DSS analyst comes from his/her ability to understand the businesses information needs and then navigate those needs to the appropriate data. The DSS analyst works with the Integration Specialist to help identify the appropriate sources for the information and with the Data Designer to optimize the design for availability, flexibility, and performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Retrieves and presents corporate information for the purpose of decision support and analysis leveraging one of the aforementioned technologies.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between the business community and the Data Warehouse or IT team to understand business information needs. Translates information needs into data and system requirements.
  • Provides strategic thinking and leadership pertaining to new ways of leveraging information to improve business processes. Must be strong in guiding business leaders through strategic thinking processes and change.
  • Designs Decision Support Systems (DSS) to deliver these data needs via a range of structures such as reports, dashboards, portals and data marts.
  • Provides programming and business analysis support for the design, development, testing and implementation of reports, portals and dashboards, using the above mentioned BI technologies. Assists in the development of reports using the data loaded into the data warehouse, and assists in the development of dashboards and its integration with the portal.
  • Provides expertise and guidance to the BI development team. Mentors junior DSS developers and end-users in the use of BI tools.
  • Estimates effort and performs impact assessments. Sets up report development procedures and guidelines.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience with 2-3 complete life cycle implementation as a lead data delivery expert utilizing any one of the tools above (building reports, cubes, dashboards, portals, pre-built BI apps, etc.).
  • Must have full life-cycle project experience with demonstrated capabilities covering the following: user requirements/analysis, data modeling/design, data structure development and object activation, report design/development, implementation, and production support.
  • Deep understanding of business processes and industry best practices. Specific experience with multiple modules of at least one ERP application (SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.) and one CRM application (Siebel, Salesforce.com).
  • Solid understanding of physical/logical DB layers, with an emphasis on changes to the logical layer. Good SQL Skills and ability to navigate at least one of the following two DBMS: Oracle, DB2, Teradata, Netezza or Exadata.

Job Description

Travel to various client sites throughout U.S., as required, to analyze, design, develop and test advanced data warehouse solutions including design in databases such as Oracle, DB2 and/or TeraData, development of ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) programs using ETL tools such as Ab Initio and/or DataStage and deployment of automated test suites using UNIX shell scripts and stored procedures.
